Doesn't anybody love this cartoon?

For some strange reason, I actually like the Nintendo-based cartoons. Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, they're just great. Unfortunately, most people I talk to hate this show, because it's not how they pictured Link, etc. No, Link isn't how I pictured him, but if he acted the way he does when I play the game, then the series wouldn't be so funny.

Anyway, what does everyone like most about this show?

I watched the episodes not too long ago. They were incredibly cheesy, and everything just happened to work out in the end.. but honestly, I liked it too. I can't see myself watching it again anytime soon, but it was fun to watch while it lasted.

It also came to the point where "Excuuuuuuuuuse me, Princess!" started to become more humorous than annoying. I couldn't help but laugh every time he said it.

I wonder why though they never had the Triforce of Courage on the show though...

Ive tried rewatching TV cartoons series that I used to watch as a kid, this, Mario, Captain N and Pro Stars and this is about the only one I can still stand to watch, the others are just wayyy too cheesy, this one is way better than the others. I remember when this originally aired and it was on every friday while Mario was on Mon-Thur, best part about the show is no stupid Mario Brothers live action stuff, well except for the credits.

I have been watching it through netflix but I would consider buying the DVD.

So yes, I still love this show.

I really liked the cartoon, I thought it was fun and I was like 5 when it aired so it didn't need to do much. I loved all the Nintendo cartoons back then and I still love Nintendo, of course. I've just thought about doing a video list like "5 things The LoZ cartoon did right and 3 it did horribly wrong" or something like that. It has some good points but some really bad cheesy ones like the catchphrase.

Also, I just wanted to point out (cuz i'm a zelda nerd) that the Triforce of Courage had just been invented that year in Zelda II and it didn't seem to really be an important part of the story until later. I mean, in Zelda II it was a key item but later on it became part of the lore.

I love it too! I grew up with this show and the comics based on it, so this is the real Zelda to me. :)

one reviewer said it best: SO bad it's awesome!!! :D

in high school my friend got the dvds and we watched them all. it's terrible but so great

I remember really liking this show as a kid, but after looking at an episode recently, it's pretty bad. If not for the fact that it is linked [no pun intended] to such a great video game series, I think it would be a much more forgotten tv series, and properly so.

reply

I'd say the opposite is true, most people who hate it only seem to hate it because it wasn't what they envisioned while playing the game. What is "bad" about this show - as compared to...what?

reply

I love it, too!

reply

I like it, very colorful and funny and zelda is cute

I wish that they would re-do this cartoon with the same level of violence, only a little more intense due to the increase of intensity within the Zelda games since this cartoon first aired.

And yeah, I still want Link chasing Zelda for a kiss.

"Metroid: Other M" is the best game (PERIOD)!

i freakin love the show! I've prolly rewatched this series more than any other dvd i have! A Link to the Past is my favorite video game of all time and I'm obsessed with Legend of Zelda in general.. And yeah, Link isn't how he is in the game but as said above, if he acted like he did in the game it wouldn't be funny and this show is a comedy! and i found it hilarious!

man if i was a reclusive billionaire i'd totally get it back on the air! lol but have the cartoons based on A Link to the Past instead.. :D

I was about 11 when this show came on and had beaten the first Zelda and was still mulling through the second one. This is how I associated Link in the games. I loved this character, his snark sense of humor, how good he is at being a hero. Not to mention I love this incarnation of Gannon. When the video game series jumped to the N64 it took a hard corner and was suddenly very Japanese feeling which was never what I got out of it.

So yeah I love this show and always will.
