Impressive!!

My girlfriend is a fan of Tyra Banks and she taped this movie the other night, she says she heard about it on the show. We watched it this morning and wow!! I was stunned at how amazing these women looked. I was also put off by how deceiving this can be. I mean, the majority of these transgendered contestants could pass for real women and fool just about anybody. I used to think I was pretty good at recognizing a real woman from a trannie but these girlz had me fooled. Even without make-up Mimi still looked pretty much like a woman. I'm glad I'm getting married soon because with "women" like these out there the dating game's gonna get real interesting.

The doc was well-done and they talked with several of the contestants in their hometowns and with their families. Wish they had shown more interviews, in shorter segments rather than just focusing of the few they aired. Maybe the other girlz were holding onto their privacy. I like that they repeatedly let you know at various times the names of each contestant since there were so many to keep track of. Good backstage moments, nothing too heavy but a few catty instances.

I was impressed by Erica, Cezanne, Nicole and especially the girl from LA, Maria. She was stunning and it was amazing to see how as a boy, she looked more macho than alot of the others who already looked very effeminate as boys. She also had the most personality and still seemed to hold onto a little macho "swagger" in her attitude which probably kept her from winning. Must have been hard to pick a winner. Even alot of the women who didn't make finalist looked good. I think they probably made the right choice choosing Mimi. Though she was the whitest one up there, she definitely had the poise and talent to win. I don't think Tiara and Dorae's claims of racism were really founded. Tiara maybe could have gotten in as a finalist but Dorae wasn't even close.

I caught this on Showtime last week and loved it! Never thought I would be into something like this but I found it to be funny, heart-warming and just all around entertaining. I have a lot of opinions about things that went on in the pageant and it's great to be able to share them with someone who has seen this documentary and also enjoyed it. :)

For one thing, Mimi was really pretty and I loved her act. She was fun to watch and she actually seemed like a fairly genuine person. However I wouldn't have picked her as the pageant winner. I think she won because she truly does have that apple pie Miss America princess smile. lol I'm not sure how much it had to do with race as much as the fact that judges always love tall blonde blue-eyed women, even in scenarios very different than the norm, such as this. That said, I feel a brunette white woman would have been in the same boat with Black/Asian/Latin women if the judges indeed had their hearts set on picking a "barbie".

Dorae I loved up until the end. I can't believe how bitter she was. I'm the first person to scream racism in an unfair situation but come on, compared to some of those girls, she really didn't stand a chance. Her act was fantastic though...and there are no words for how wonderful I found her family, especially her adorable little Grandma.

I also was put off by Tiara's poor sportsmanship. There were some points when we were shown photos of her, that I found her to be prettier than like say Beyonce...however I don't think she made herself up as well as she could have in the pageant and there were times she looked a bit plain. Perhaps that's why she lost. There was also a little something else she didn't do very well that could have had something to do with her loss, but since I am a lady I will not point that out here. Anyone who watches the documentary may or may not notice what I am talking about. lol Another thing is I didn't understand a lot of what she said when she was being interviewed. From what I got out of it she was saying that at some point she wants to go back to being male. How does that make her transgendered then? Doesn't that in theory make her a drag queen? I'm not trying to be mean...just correct me if I am wrong.

I loved Maria and Marie. Marie was so sweet and cute and Maria I found to be funny, caring, and utterly gorgeous! With that breathtaking smile she was my choice for pageant winner, and my personal favorite pageant girl. =D

The beautiful Lucy Marie (Paraya? Paralla? SP?) was the most feminine looking of everyone. She was so petite in every way, it's hard to believe she was ever not female.

Paris Hilton ain't got nothin on Nicole Extravaganza. Even though she came off as a bit of a bitch you gotta give her her props. She has got the femme fatale thing going on more than most biologically female divas.

Erica Andrews was lovely. I enjoyed watching her. She did seem like a very nice person...I'm glad she won first runner up.

Cezanne looked great at the beginning but someone has got to show that woman how to pose on stage. She looked possessed by something demonic in her evening gown.

I will say this about Delilah...everything about her looked and sounded female. But (and I don't usually say things like this) what a dumb slut! She would have definitely made it into the tops if she wasn't such a cheap bimbo that tried to star in a porn flick rather than compete in a beauty pageant. Anyway she was a good sport so I give her that much.

Christina made me laugh...she reminded me of one of those skinny little girls in grammar school that were really hyper, never stopped fidgeting, and always made strange observations and talked way too much about weird things that most people don't wanna hear. lol Yet, I liked what she said about how she couldn't understand how some of those girls were expecting to gain respect by dressing and acting cheap. Her act seemed kool too.

I also think Cassandra could have very well made it into the tops had she picked some different outfits. I mean her outfits were flashy...but that's it. In pageants you need something that's both flashy and classy. Hers lacked the class a bit I think. She seemed like an interesting person though and she had her moments where she looked amazing.

Tara was a bit out of her element in that pageant. I'm not saying she didn't look or act female. She just wasn't showgirl material. And also since I am a woman, but not a transgendered one, I was not sure what to make of her act. I thought her joke was funny but in poor taste. Anyway I felt somewhat bad for her but she seemed to have herself a great time so that's all that matters.

I didn't like Tadallah, Tamalla, Tamali whatever her name is. The one that looked like Daisy Duck. She seemed so bitchy and she really didn't have reason to be stuck up...for heaven's sake she looked like she had flotation devices on her face instead of lips.

And finally, how sad about Jahna Steele just passing away huh? I had no clue until I came to the IMDb today. :( Although at times she said tacky things, she was so fun to watch. Very feminine woman, and so caring. RIP Jahna.

She definitely won because of the Barbie image. But I think she had a really good show with the back up dancers and all. Since she does clubs professionally, she had a leg up, though I'm sure most of them have some kind of club experience.

I don't see her looking prettier than Beyonce but definitely can turn heads. But "she" still had some gay boy issues that came out in her personality and behavior. Marie made a comment about some of the ladies not acting professional and lady-like and I think Tiara showed some of that behavior in Las Vegas in the night scenes by the fountain. And it sounds like she's confused about whether she wants to remain transgendered or not.

He looked like a dude in drag, straight up!! Even they way he carried himself. Victoria, too. At least he walked a little more fem but neither one of them made me see them as women.

"The beautiful Lucy Marie (Paraya? Paralla? SP?) was the most feminine looking of everyone. She was so petite in every way, it's hard to believe she was ever not female. "

Lucy looked like a real woman and her and Irene Sue being very petite could probably fool just about any man. I'm surprised they at least place. Also asian men have a real edge being slightly built and already having fem features. Sometimes I mistake Japanese male teens for girls. Size would have been a dead giveaway for someone like Maria who is a giant and towers above all the other contestants and is it the hormones or large butt implants????? That was the one thing that made her look silly otherwise I would have voted her as the winner of this whole pageant.

My girlfriend miscalculated the time on the vcr and missed the first 10 minutes so I guess that's where Delilah mentioned she had done porn and I don't remember hearing Nicole even speak so it must have been in the part we missed. Delilah did seem like a bimbo but looked like she was having fun being a woman.

OK. Now I gotta "man up" and go watch some ESPN. Actually watched this again so that's 2x now. sheeeesh. I guess it's just testament to how real some of these "women" looked.

Well I'm a bi girl so technically anything can entertain me. I would be watching NFL network right now myself if I wasn't at work, but I'm a Boston girl and a huuuuuge Pats fan so I haven't been able to watch a thing since that fateful night February 3rd. :'(

That being said I want to clear a couple things up that I said which may have confused you. Delilah never said she did porn...I was just colorfully referring to the fact that she acted like the biggest ho before and during the entire pageant.

Nicole doesn't get interviewed at all, I just thought the way she carried herself, the looks on her face, and the way she was walking down the Vegas strip one night, that she seemed kind of bitchy and self-obsessed.

HOWEVER, weirdly enough, I searched for clips from Trantasia right after making my post yesterday and found out that Nicole has a youtube account where she posts videos of herself giving updates on her career and just talking about all kinds of things that suits her fancy. I feel so mean after watching those videos. She is so nice and sweet and the complete opposite of bitchy. That just goes to show that you very well can never judge a book by its cover.

And wow you thought Maria's butt made her look silly? To me she just looked like a tall Latin woman with a characteristic big ol' booty. I thought she looked good. 8-)

OK. That clears things up then cuz I really wanted to hear Nicole speak as I thought she was my second runner up favorite after Erica, then number one, Maria. I'll have to look her up on youtube.

Delilah really did seem like someone who would have taken it to porn. My girlfriend agreed with you on that one.

I just thought Maria's ass was over the top. I've seen some serious latin mommies, trust me and no matter how bountiful they've been in the backside area, I rarely see them that out of control. She's big but well proportioned with nice hips but her butt just kind of exaggerates her shape. I imagine it was the hormones because I doubt if a latin woman would need butt implants. I don't mean to denigrate her though. She was still my favorite by far.

Sorry about that Superbowl, babygirl. I'm from northern NJ. GO GIANTS!!

Well all the guys looked like guys to me. As soon as I stopped on the channel I could tell that they were guys in drag. No offense but some of you that were fooled or thought that these freaks looked like real women need to live a little more.

reply

I doubt if anyone could have told that any of them were women at first glance. Obviously, I or anyone could tell they were transgendered just by the title of the movie and sure if you look hard enough at several of them, you can tell but by your immature responses here I can pretty much tell you'd be the first one to be fooled by these "women".

I agree with you, "swinggold" about "I don't think Tiara and Dorae's claims of racism were really founded."

I say based on what was shown in the documentary dealing with the pageant, I didn't see anything that possibly could have been racist, prejudice, etc.

Besides that, I think Cassandra would be a good comedian(ne) or actress in comedic movies. During her interview she had personality and she made me laugh at times with the subtle jokes.

Tiara maybe could have gotten in as a finalist but Dorae wasn't even close.

I agree Tiara could have possibly made it, but Dorae, no way. She looked like a guy in drag. I do know Dorae carried the Diva attitude a little to far. She had an arrogance and chip on her shoulder about her in just about everything. It was distasteful and I'm sure it came across to the judges. I know someone said the interview portion was canceled, but in her interview with the producers, Tiara came across as confused about her life choices. I'm not sure if there was an opportunity for that to be conveyed to the judges. Perhaps in one of the "parties" she spoke too candidly. That could possibly been her downfall. I didn't notice any racism though.

And Mimi was beautiful but I'm not sure she was the most beautiful. I really liked her personality but she had that plastic blond look about her, (aging blond in some shots) whereas some of the others looked very naturally beautiful. I think Cezanne and Erica were my favorites. I'm glad they placed. I also like Cassandra. She had a natural look about her, but maybe hadn't quite gotten a completely natural woman looke.
