April buying every copy of Jane Eyre

I get that she would hold out a shred of hope that she may find the copy her father gave her. But why buy every single copy she saw - why not just look at them, see that they're not it, and put them back? As she said, some of the ones she bought had inscriptions in them, meaning they very well could have belonged to someone in her same situation who was hoping to find that copy but couldn't because April got it. Why would she keep those for herself?

Very valid point...I understand her rationale for doing it, but equally agree that in some ways, her actions are selfish and deprive others of the same satisfaction/closure she is seeking.

Perhaps, now that she has her special copy, she will be inspired to sell back all of the other editions she holds in her possession.

That is a good question. Maybe she wanted to keep them in case she would keep finding the same books in new york over and over again. The ones with other inscriptions, I'm not sure why she decided to keep them. It's confusing lol

Maybe she just became a collector of different "Jane Eyre" editions...I actually know someone who has multiple copies of every Charles Dickens book...when I asked him how come, he said that he collects different editions of them, including first editions of many of them that are worth a lot of money. Whether he ever intends to sell them...I don't know.

If you're not taking any steps forward, you're not moving at all.
