He changed the names of the all women during the story. Well, except April.

Yes. He put her mother she knows and loves in the story of his past relationships but changed the women's names so she didn't know which "character" in the story was her mom.

She knows who her mother is. She just doesn't know the story of mom and dads courtship and the two other women he was serious with. Also, as others here posted, he changed her name in the story so she wouldn't know which was her mom.
