English Voice actors?

Well, I couldn't find a listing of English voice actors for this movie. I thought the dub was pretty good. I "know" a lot of the voices but I can't place them. Is there a listing some where for English cast? I watched the credits, and looked on the DVD but no luck.

reply

They didn't even list the voice actors on the DVD? Now that's weird.... :/

Well, I'm almost certain that Scott Menville was the voice actor for Black. I'm not so sure about any of the others though; I'll try looking them up for you when I've got the time...

reply

Thanks so much sells, I knew I heard Black's voice somewhere, and I was about to kill myself thinking about who it was.

I had a couple ideas, and narrowed it down to a game, and I was right, he's Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia. And now that I think about it, he does sound alot like Robin from Teen Titans (which he does too).

And btw, this goes without saying, this anime was kickass. I might actually buy it. Paprika looks good too........

reply

I KNEW it!!!! Black is Robin!!!!

I got a jar of diiiirt!

reply

I'm pretty sure suzuki is eric roberts.

There's a partial list on Wiki, but it doesn't list the VAs for Snake or Kimura, or any of the additional voices. I'd almost swear Snake was James Woods, but I'm still not 100%.

Black: Scott Menville

White: Kamali Minter

Rat/Suzuki: David Lodge

Choco: Alex Fernandez

Dawn: Yuri Lowenthal

Kimura's Wife: Kate Higgins

On anime News Network, it lists Steven Jay Blum as the doctor. The site also lists Chrispin Feeman and Dave Wittenburg as well, but it doesn't tell which roles they played.

Yea this is one of the few anime movies that i believe sounded much better in english.

reply

The film was meant to be a perfect crossover, it was created so that it could be spoken in English and Japanese without altering the context, since the spoken inner dialogie and the films characters speaking kept coming on top of each other, it would be too difficult to folow in subtitles, so it was animated with the intention to fit both English and Japanese fluidly.

reply

It wasn't difficult to follow in subtitles... I enjoyed it in HD/Japanese immensely. Personally, I find it difficult to watch a English dub that takes place in Japan with Japanese with a lot of culture innuendo. That's why Miyazaki can sometimes go both ways (dub or sub)... but definitely not this one. I highly recommend giving a go in Japanese... much more authenticity that way.

reply

Exactly...this and some others just take you out of the moment with english dubbing...

I'm sure it was good, but it's just not for me anymore.

But I'll have to watch this again b/c I won't have to read the subs as much the second time around so I can actually see what's going on a lot better. :)

reply

I've been really wanting to know who did Snakes voice.

reply

I know for a fact that I heard Crispin Freeman in the film, but I can't remember where...

reply

to me, i think it sounds like Dwight Schultz as Snake.

Wow. I feel sorry for you. Watching any television must be excruciating. Vikings that speak English, zombies that groan in English and heck, how realistic is Game of Thrones when nearly everyone in Westeros speaks English as well.

It's all one big plothole. Never mind the insanely talented actors, my belief is not being suspended fully!!

reply

That's an interesting thought. But what's your source? I'd like to be able to verify it.

reply

Kimura is voiced by the ever brilliant Rick Gomez, who also did Zack Fair in Final Fantasy 7!!
He does an excellent job!

reply

John DiMaggio and Phil Lamarr (Both of Futurama) are definitely in there.

Lamarr (Hermes Conrad) is one of the guys chasing White and Black at the beginning and DiMaggio (Bender Rodriguez) is the Mayor I believe? I've only seen this once and am not totally familiar with the character names. Other than White and Black of course.

reply

I'm pretty sure Dwight Schultz voices one of the characters. Can't remember which one right at this moment, but if you have Vampire Hunter D he voices the Old Man Of Barberois in an almost exact same style. He's not credited on his imdb page for Tekkonkinkreet however, so I might be wrong. But if I'm wrong then someone is doing a great job of copying him!

reply

I concur that Snake is voiced by Dwight Schultz, and I'm about 99% positive Suzuki is voiced by Matt McKenzie, and John Dimaggio as the Boss. With Alex Fernandez in the cast as well, I would deduce the voice direction for this film was handled by Jack Fletcher.

reply

Unlike in most anime, the English voice acting in Tekkonkinkreet was wonderful.

reply

I'm fairly certain that Tom Kenny is Sawada but I can't find any evidence to suggest otherwise.
