Overrated movie

This movie sucked. The art direction was terrible. All the characters on the show looked like they got down syndrome. There's no explanation what so ever of why these kids can jump better than spiderman. Random mechas pop out of nowhere. Professional gangsters and the whole town seem to be scared of two freakin kids who likes to dress as a cat. They got the worst names ever (Treasure town? Oh yeah its treasure so we gotta protect it). Jesus Christ its so bad.

I've got a feeling the only people who likes this movie either:

a) wanna-be avant-garde types who put too much emphasis on simplistic symbolisms
b) stoners on an acid trip
c) paid trolls that hype up the movie for money

Just because you disliked the film doesn't mean it's "overrated" - I've barely heard anybody talk about it so I'm unsure of where you've heard all the hype which you deem inappropriate. Also people can have a different opinion to you, too - people may genuinely enjoy this film for what it is and may not be pretentious, a stoner or a troll. Just think before you type in the future since everyone is bound to have a different opinion.

I really liked the art style - it wasn't your typical clean-cut anime and all of that ugliness was being focused on with the surroundings and characters. I felt that was a breath of fresh air. I must admit, I've only seen the film once so I'm still a bit shaky with details in areas (I don't know if I fully understood the ending but I'll be re-watching it again to come up with an interpretation).

I kinda liked that these kids had an absurd talent for jumping and balance - it made the film a bit dream-like, despite it being quite violent at times.

I think this is a troll post, but the other night I was telling a friend I feel like the movie is underrated, because for a Sony published movie that did get some press early on, I don't really know anyone who has seen it unless I've let them borrow it or sit down and watch it with me.

I really don't think that movie is that pretentious. It's got some avante garde stuff but's not like obtuse and any symbolism in the movie is not a major point for the story, which exists all on it's own, just as the comic did.
