it's super corny... that was the point

This is a total "comic book" movie. I've never read the spirit before but I do read a ton of other comic books. It was suppposed to be really cheesy, just like out of a comic. That's why it was so funny. I mean it IS a comedy, nobody has ridiculous dialogue like that in real life. It seems like audiences didn't understand that it was a satire sort of on comic books in general. All the acting was stiff or overacted seemingly very intentionally.

Besides there's a lot of good lookin chicks, a great villain, some awesome one liners, and personally I think the cinematography is excellent. Weird cause a lot of people seem to be saying it was bad visually. It so stylized and so far removed from reality that it's very interesting to look at.

I dunno maybe just cause I'm a comic book person and I saw what he was tryin to do with it. The pacing wasn't perfect, but still this was an excellent film. I wish frank miller would direct more.

Well..that was mature. A comic book has structure, plot.
This ..well not so much.

In a fair universe, we would all be better people.

You are a great observer. I totally agree.

What comics have you been reading? I can't really think of one that is intentionally cheesy. I don't think this movie was meant to be a comedy. If it was it failed at that too.

The dialouge was horrible all around, and not just cheesy, but unneccesary and redundent.

Linkara is a comic book guy too, and he thought this was horrendous.

And I can see the appeal of a cheesy parody or a superhero comedy, but it's trying to be those things AND a gritty noir movie and so it just fails at all of them. I don't think the stylized look would bother people as much if it were attached to a movie like "Sin City."

I appreciate humour but the comedy in the Spirit was really sub parr and verged on ridiculous rather than entertaining. If they could've toned it down then I think it coulda been great.
