What the heck is up with the rating system for this movie? It was bad enough that it was rated at a 6.6 on here a little while ago, and I come back here now, and the rating's dropped again to a 6.5? Come on people, this isn't a bad movie! And yet the users on this website has been giving this movie so much grief since its release last year! There are much worse movies out there! In fact, this was actually one of the better summer movies of last year! Give this movie a break...
5/10 from me. A lot of good will was lost from how cynical it was (Bryan Cranston dead at the beginning, Not enough Godzilla, Constant fight scene trolling). Made me feel very ripped off and betrayed.
It's been a while since I've watched both, say what you will about the 98 version and although it's absurd at least I can remember stuff happened. The submarine sequence, raptor babies in Madison square garden, the helicopter chase, the fish trap etc, Godzilla 2014 is just a blur and that film came out just last year
Funny thing is, all those things you listed are the ones everyone TRIES to forget. Godzilla 2014 has its fare share of very memorable moments, the atomic breathe scene? The part where he breaks the bridge? That part was intense. And also my favorite one of all, seeing him stand tall and doing that roar in the end while holding the female MUTOs' head.
Say what you want but Gareth nailed Godzilla. He was portrayed like the *beep* king he was meant to be.
I agree 100%. Thankfully most critics see it the same way you and I do. We're getting a sequel with the same director, so there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I think things are shaping up nicely, in spite of the average IMDB viewer rating.
