madonna 'sname?
what was that all about? abi kept saying her name was false.... and the end.
shareIt's Jane. At the beginning, when Abbie is obsessing bout the age of everyone, she asks 'Madonna' how old she is and then tells her that she ran into an old friend from school. Abbie also asked her how she came up with the name, if she was born 'Madonna' or stole it from someone else. In the middle, right after Abbie lipped off to Danny Houston's Grandparents about rocket science being a cliche, 'Madonna' is trying to tell her that "we really need to talk" and Abbie keeps backsassing, and 'Madonna' says something to which Abbie replies "no jane, i really don't think so" (or something) and 'Madonna' says "what did you just say?" and Abbie says "Your friend from school told me she used to know you as Jane" and 'Madonna'/Jane walks off.
Of course this isnt the exact wording, but it was kind of how the conversation went
yeah i know all that....but so what? she changed her name... whats the big deal? why was abi so keen on bringing it up and harassing madonna about it?
shareI didn't get that theme either, and the film never reveals or explains what it is about "Jane" and her school and this "friend" of Madonna's. Abi is meant to be something of a bitch, she's riding "Jane" for some reason, if only to be mean. But that's only one of the flaws in the script. I watched this with my daughter who's 19, and we both did not understand the ending with Danny Houston, and the reaction of the staff. The only one not "taken" by his appearance is Abi, who is supposedly a big fan of his, and is not awestruck but wonders "what the hell is going on." That said,I think the film was worth watching just for the performances. This is a must-see for Neve Campbell fans (like me); I thought she was very good, not to mention naked. It's the best role she's had in a film in a long while. It's a shame this did not get any distribution and the promotion it deserved. Disappointingly, it seems the home DVD can not be purchased in any stores except online at places like Amazon. It is out there to rent, though. I enjoyed it very much, loved the cast.
sharei enjoyed it, too. not a great story but awesome performances and lots of laughs. that crazy south american lady had me in tears! hehe.
