product placement

Yes Mitsubishi were sponsors and Derek has taken some flack for the prominent product placement but to be honest it was partly me and what I thought looked good on the day that bears some of the blame for that.
First, we didn’t get money, Mitsi loaned us a few cars for which we were very grateful.
Second, there was a deleted scene at the start of the movie that tied in the Mitsubishi Badge with and ominous futuristic spy cam that was supposed to repeat through the film… oh well.
Third, since we were doing some product placement, rather than try to hide it I thought the audience would find it funny that we acknowledged it and had it out in the open… I thought it would get a rye smile, not vitriolic condemnation from a few… oh well :-)
