I just watched this movie and i was suprised, it was very very good very entertaining and very much fun, i was into it from start to end the plot was great and let me tell you they say they didnt have budget but i was amazed the special effect was still good this movie is a gem and if you like scifi its a must see and own!
I'm a kiwi and let me tell you now I am pretty ashamed of such a movie coming out from New Zealand. The effects looked good considering it was a no budget film but anyone with windows movie maker could do the same on a home video and I suppose the storyline was ok but the acting just did'nt cut it. Acting is a very important part of a film, it supposed to bring a story to life but films acting was as wooden as a tree . I'm sorry if it offends anyone but what is the point making a film if the acting is bad. It reminded me of watching school plays when I was a kid.
When I took it back to the Rental store I asked them not to put it back on the shelves in fear of other people being niave enough to rent out this crap. Nice try but it SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE AVAILABLE TO BUY, AND I WANT MY $5 BACK.
The thing I like… one of the things I like about IMDB is reading the viewers reviews where the thing that they absolutely loved was the same thing someone else absolutely loathed. Its fun to read but just the personal opinion a few people from the overall viewing audience who care enough either way to write.
You didn’t like it? I’m sorry but oh well not everyone will. You think “anyone with windows movie maker could do the same on a home video” that shows how little you know about the reality of making a movie. Try it sometime :)
I do think saying it “SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE AVAILABLE TO BUY” is a bit harsh and only your opinion. Some people liked it and have been asking where they can buy a copy.
As for getting your money back, ok as soon as I make some money from Event 16 I’ll send you your $5… although judging from the over 10,000 downloads from the last bittorrent site I looked at its not looking too likely… still they may be blood sucking, free loading pirates but at lest they seem to like our movie.
That’s cool I haven’t used movie maker 2, it's that good? :)
The acting wasn’t my department but when we were shooting I thought the actors were doing some good performances. I think where the film suffers is that a lot of the voices were re-done in post. They just feel flatter on screen than they were in the field… that’s a byproduct of doing stuff on a no/low budget I guess but it's hard on the actors.
Still I’ve rented what I think are a lot worse movies than Event 16, all made for a lot more money than we had… in fact most movies spend more on the wrap party than we had for the whole film :)
Thanks for renting it anyway. Thanks for your comments, it’s good to get feedback.
That’s fine. I don’t want to scare people off by jumping on any negative comments… I really do want to know what people thought about Event 16, so thanks for hanging in there. If there is an Event 16 2 I’ll certainly put you forward to the director as an extra.
I can just hear Sean Connery “Think back Highlander. Think back to where it all began. The field of battle… the ridiculously short kilt and the immortal sting of the alien thistle…”
I watched this movie last night and I loved almost every minute of it. The twists in the movie were awesome and I didn't have no trouble following the plot, it was really cool. It was probably the shortest film I've ever seen but there was so much going on and it was never boring. I gave it 9/10.
