(Honest) Review

Let me preface this by saying that I've been waiting to see "Waking Madison" for YEARS. Not because of the director or the actors, but because of the premise. I remember reading about how Katherine Brooks (?) locked herself in her apartment for 30 days while she was writing the script. It just seemed like the kind of movie I would love, so I waited patiently for this one to come out.

Anyway. I wasn't disappointed, but I certainly wasn't blown away. I think "Waking Madison" suffers the same problems that "Loving Annabelle" had - cliche plot, cliche characters, cliche resolution. For an independent movie, it really feels contrived and staged. I appreciate the production values, and the talent in the movie is worth the price of admission alone (Sarah Roemer, Elisabeth Shue, Imogen Poots, Taryn Manning, to a lesser extent Erin Kelly) - although their roles are so simplistic that it comes off like a bad off-broadway play. One thing that worked very well was the music, which was surprisingly done by Olivia d'Abo (if anyone remembers her).

I guess I would only recommend this movie to fans of one of the actresses, the director, or people that are like me and have waited SO long that they don't even care if it's good or not they just want to see it and get it over with.

SPOILERS:
Yes it does deal with multiple personalities, and you'll pick up on it quite quickly. I don't know anything about the medical science behind it, but the different personalities were way too obvious: a hardcore mean bully, a sweet innocent girl, a sex-addict... I mean c'mon...

You should watch The Ward. I think you'll enjoy it.
