I think you may be better off going to the "Need to Know" board or the "Film General" board. There are many film geniuses on those boards who may be able to help you out. No one will likely see your post seeing as how no one's posted on this board yet.
I only saw your post by chance because I was looking up one of the actors. (I haven't seen this movie.)
Good luck,

These aren't the droids you're looking for. *waves hand vaguely in air*

My post may contain spoilers so beware.

I just finished watching it, and personally I loved it. While I can't guarantee everyone will like it as much as I do, its worth checking out for yourself. It was a funny movie, especially that one part where Artash as a mock cooking show "Let's Cook Cocaine" or something like that haha, but its also pretty serious in its issues. You really start to feel for the characters when Spiker becomes hooked on cocaine, and Sobakka trys hard to keep his life honest. Bottom line is: You should check it out; its quirky, the humor's fresh, and it evokes genuine pity.

I agree.... it was funny.... the cooking segment cracked me up, but not as much as the "what is that smell?"..."what smell?" line.... I liked the "translate for the American audience" bit too....

Yes, have just got home from the Edinburgh Film Festival and this was on there, a film well worth seeing it is going to be on general release from October (i think that is was the director said anyway later this year for sure). Ben Barnes was really good far better than he was in Caspian

I saw the movie and loved it! I bought it on ebay but it has Japanese subtitles over the American subtitles. However, it's a movie that a good one to have in your library!

I just watched it on iplayer, it was quite hard to understand sometimes but I got most of it. Its pretty realistic in its portrayal of modern Britain and the way so many immigrants get by on the black economy. Every Uk city now is like this, full of gypsies, eastern euros, africans, somalis, pakistani, bangladeshi, chinese and native underclass white British junkies and alcoholics all trying to get by somehow. Its very depressing. I have mixed emotions about all of it. The world is so wrong, and the funny thing is that its all set up this way on purpose.

Why do you think UK colleges will let anyone join a course? Why is our law so lax? Why do you think our high streets are full of cash convertors and mobile phone shops? Why is it that our airports have so many pakistani staff working there (heroin importation)? So many money laundering businesses such as car washes, restaurants and take aways, brothel/rub and tug shops. Its a disgrace. How much longer can it continue? The greatest nation on earth, Great Britain that gave the world everything and I mean everything is now this.

Sadly we created a monster in the process.

And it's thanks to ignorant people like you that the world is full of racist narrow minded ideology. I like being British myself, but 'Britain that gave the world everything and I do mean everything' is a bit of a silly remark and isn't really doing your cause any favours.

Try going outside and making a new friend, only maybe this time try talking to someone who isn't British. Hopefully you'll see that no matter where we come from, we are all people.

Just because someone might not have the same skin colour/accent as you, wasn't born as privileged as you, or decides to live an alternative lifestyle, that doesn't make them a disgrace or a criminal. Try and grow up a bit.

Just my opinion, nothing more.

Wow. I think you pretty much completely missed the message that this film was trying to make about immigration.

As for your questions. Let me have a go at answering them.

"Why do you think UK colleges will let anyone join a course?" - Why? I will tell you why. So that people of all backgrounds/abilities have the opportunity to further educate themselves and become more employable.

"Why do you think our high streets are full of cash convertors and mobile phone shops?" - Why? I'm not sure if you noticed, but mobile phones are kind of a big deal now. I don't know where you bought your mobile phone from, but I got mine from a shop. I don't really see how mobile phone shops are a problem. As for cash convertors, I think you'll find that pawn shops have existed for centuries in Britain. Hardly a problem caused by immigration, but one caused by poverty. Perhaps you have a problem with poor people as well - it wouldn't surprise me.

"Why is it that our airports have so many pakistani staff working there (heroin importation)?" - ......

Actually you know what? I've got better things to do than respond to the racist, ignorant and frankly downright stupid ramblings of an uneducated, insecure bigot. Have a nice life living in your personal "monster" that is 21st century Britain.
