goofs that drive me nuts

Ok so before anyone yells at me :) let me say this, I love this show. im dying to get season 3 on dvd since i have season 1 and 2 and watch it every couple of weeks probably, im in the middle of a marathon now actually.

there are two(probably more) goofs that i noticed and while i usually dont get antsy about little things like "his coffee cup was half full from one angle and completely full from another" kinda goofs, these two for some reason bug me. the first is a small one i just noticed this morning while starting the second season. her mom comes back from a cruise and gives grace a hard time for not being able to talk to her for a while because she says she hasnt seen her in weeks. however, her birthday party was at the end of season 1 and its only a few days maybe a week at most since the party to the point of her turning the priest in(and this was the first episode of season 2) Its just weird i dont know.

the other one is the one that really gets me. when clays dad is about to marry the scam artist and grace is trying on the dress, earl comments that at mary francis' wedding she looked really pretty for a 12 year old. now, clay is 12, the murrah building happened when he was a few days old. if grace is really about 35-40 like the show portrays through her time on the force and age of siblings, that would mean that mary francis and her husband(name escapes me) waited something like 10-15 years after getting married to have clay. it might not be a goof per say but doesnt that strike anyone as odd?

let me say again i am not bashing this show, i love this show, so sad to see it go its just that second part is based on a big part of her life so its kinda strange to me...anyway, i will open this up to anyones opinion...be gentle

Well...you know writers aren't known for their continuity. LOL

I think Grace was older than 12 when Mary Frances and Doug got married. I'll have to watch that episode again to check out what you are talking about.
TNT is rerunning the episodes from season 1 and 2 now late at night so hopefully the rest of season 3 will start again soon. Which unfortuantely also means the end of the show.
I hate that it's cancelled!

I love Saving Grace too and it's one of the best shows on. Great ensemble cast too.

The coffee cup is funny. Reminds me of an old pirate movie I saw. From one angle in the captains cabin, the boat was rocking up and down. From the other angle they shot, it was rocking from side to side. The pirate captain also had a turkey leg and thigh. As it cut back and forth between the captain and whoever he was talking with, it would face one direction, then the other. LOL

As to Clay's age... It may not be common, but its not totally surprising to me. When I was a kid, our neighbors had heir first and only baby late in life (the mom was in her late 30s.) They just had no luck conceiving.

Grace could have been 12 when Mary Francis got married. It could have taken Mary Francis a while to have Clay. Leo also has teenage girls who are older than Clay (Leo's daughter got in trouble with drugs in one episode, remember.) Grace was in her twenties when Clay was born.

I have to go back and check how long it was between the end of seaason one and the start of season two when she goes after Father Murphy.

In the episode about the little boy who was burned by his dad, they did a whole scene of where the doctor removed jack's breathing tube. Moments later, Earl was with the boy and the tube was back in and stayed in for the rest of the episode.
