Mom, why can't I *bleep* her?!

Does it make any sense that these boys would want to get naked and have sex in front of their friends, sister, and MOM!? Lol
It's just completely unrealistic.
Did anyone else feel this way?
I know, I know, the family is supposed to be insane. But the boys didn't seem THAT insane. They just suddenly turned into sex crazed mental patients that couldnt wait to stick it into a bloody beaten young girl.
I know this sounds sadistic but I honestly thought it would have been more realistic if Ruth had forced David to have sex with the girl. I honestly thought that was the way it was going. I think that would have been even more upsetting and more realistic than Ruth's son raping her in front of everyone then having her even younger son BEGGING to have sex with her too.

It seemed a little far-fetched to me, too.
I think part of why they were acting like that was the whole mob mentality thing, but that kid that said that line looked about 9 years old to me.
(And even though that last part does sound sadistic I agree with you.)

That particular quote made me laugh out loud! xD

Man... This movie is such a cheesy piece of crap that it's almost funny....

reply

Hilarious that it really happened, huh?

reply

Nobody really had sex with her in real life. That was made up for the movie.

reply

Yes they did. They took turns, and also raped her with a Coca-Cola bottle.

reply

Sylvia Likens was NEVER raped. Even her autopsy was shown that she was never raped. Nevertheless, Sylvia's death was sad and tragic.

reply

I think you wish they did, Bitten. Do a Google search on Sylvia Likens.

reply

Although there was no boy rape, she was stripped bound, gagged, and beaten by the children. And she was bottle raped twice:(

But i can't help but feel they really did touch her in places. they just don't want to admit it.

Sick.

reply

If she'd been raped with a bottle, how could they have known she hadn't been otherwise raped?

reply

It does seem unrealistic, but then the details about what actually happened to Sylvia Likens seem unrealistic, too. I can't imagine myself doing that to anybody, but when you're desensitized the way they were, anything can happen.

reply

Desensitized is why this movie didn't bother me.

reply

Yeah, that was EXACTLY the part where I could no longer suspend my disbelief. Especially because in that scene, Ruth had invited all the kids in the neighborhood to watch, even a couple of girls. And, instead of each and every one of those kids breaking down in tears at the horror, the neighbor boy who had never witnessed any of the previous torture said "I want to cut her" when Ruth offered her to him. And the girls just watched, drinking soda, with no fear or anxiety that they could be next, and none of them screamed in terror or ran out of the basement? That was so phony, the movie lost all credibility.

"But the boys didn't seem THAT insane. They just suddenly turned into sex crazed mental patients" - my thoughts exactly. At that point in the movie, I thought Hey, wait a minute, Ruth is a complete loon but why are the boys going along with the torture, even when she isn't there? You'd think they would be afraid at the very least. But no, they're happy to abuse their cousin like it is the most normal every day thing in the world, whether crazy Aunt Ruth was forcing them to do it or not, they were just like "la la la, let's cut her!"

"Enough of that technical talk, Foo!"

Stop trying to make sense out of this piece of cinematic garbage.
90% of it is made up, & almost none of it makes sense, because it's an exploitation flick to the core. It's sole purpose is to titillate, even if you won't admit it to yourself.

It cracks me up that so many people think it's trying to make some kind of social statement. How dumb ARE people?

LOL That really made me laugh
You're so right
But I guess if it wasn't based a true story I wouldn't be asking these things.
For it to be purely an exploitation flick seems disrespectful to the real life girl it's based on.

Not at all. They were sexually inexperienced. Their mom put a young girl into their basement and allowed them some extent of control over her. Two of them were in puberty and curious. They felt attraction but it was instantly directed int he wrong way because of their mother. They were horny boys who were made to get turned on by something that is sick and should not be a turn on, but at the same time it was. And they were still young enough for their sense of morals to be somewhat dependent on their parents, in their case it was completely dependent on their mother who was a strong role in their lives, and she gave them a green light to explore their sexual fantasies (that can be dark) with this girl.

It was rape, not regular sex. It was about power. It might be weird but they were young, *beep* up, horny, and served what they wanted by Ruth who made it ok.

reply

Yeah it is pretty fkd up that someone could be that evil. Those kids should rot in jail too.
