Why didn't Bond correct M?
After the Opera scene, Bond is dangling a man off a roof and asks him who he works for, the man doesn't reply. He ends up falling on the car of Dominic Greene, the antagonist, while they're getting away. The man is stunned but clearly alive. One of Greene's men gets out of the car and shoots the man twice in the chest. Shortly after, M calls Bond and tells him the man he killed was part of Special Branch, a British undercover agent like Bond Himself, she was looking at a satellite image of the agent lying dead on the tarmac. A couple exchanges between the two and M declares that Bond shooting a man twice in the chest and throwing him off a roof isn't a sign of restraint. She tells Bond he needs to come in for killing an agent of Special Branch, bond completely dismisses what M says about him allegedly shooting the agent in the chest and says he needs to finish the mission. The death wasn't his fault, sure, Bond assumed the man had died upon hitting the ground but upon hearing the actual cause of death, which wasn't executed by him, he should have corrected M, or at least told her the truth of what happened.
