It was a casting choice I don't think they've ever done again in any Bond movie.

The actress playing the main Bond girl (meaning the one who's with Bond at the end of the movie) is five years older than the actor playing Bond.

Honor Blackman born in 1925.

Sean Connery born in 1930.

I believe Blackman was also the oldest actress cast as the main Bond girl. Goldfinger came out in 1964 making Honor Blackman 39. (Looking through the list of Bond movies, I don't see a movie where I think they cast a 40 year old as the main Bond girl. Next oldest is Maud Adams in Octopussy who was 38, but Roger Moore was 56 when that movie came out so 18 years older than Adams.)

So how refreshingly open-minded of the Bond producers........and in 1964.

I'm trying to imagine the fanboys reactions if they did that today. Daniel Craig is 48. So if they cast a 53 year old woman to be the main Bond girl. What a hue and cry there would be.

Good write up! I've always liked Stacey and find her incredibly underrated.

That said, my personal favourite is Tracy Di Vicenzo, with Elektra King and Fiona Volpe following closely behind.
