Iron Man episode - which Iron Man?

I was puzzled by this episode. At first I thought they were showing Tony Stark's father before he was killed (or kidnapped). Instead they seemed to be showing the adult Tony Stark, not the teen one from the current series. But in the recent crossover episodes, the Hulk interacted with this Fantastic Four series as well as the teen Iron Man series. I just wonder why they did it this way.
