I had the impression this movie was from the 70's/early 80's but after the liquor store incident when McLovin is in the back seat of the patrol car, and Seth Rogen's character mentions how his line of work (law enforcement) is not like CSI.....

shareSee, that's what I thought too, at first. Yes they mention porn sites and Eminem, but somehow I felt like it was set in the 70s or 80s or whatever.
Maybe it's the way Evan dressed. Or the intro scene where Seth dances. Just seems old to me
I'd say it's probably because of the dance at the beginning, with the funk music.
Other than that, everything else seems to point out it's modern day. Like others have said, references to Eminem, CSI, the use of cellphones and videogames, etc.
