Deer in the Headlights = Miscast
That's what I sensed. Throughout Jolie's performance.
Literally, she gives us an awkward, out of place, bug-eyed Marianne.
In such a way that the portrayal of Marianne Pearl ends up feeling more like a cause - albeit worthy - that Jolie supports with her presence rather than a role validated or elevated by Jolie's casting.
In fact, I want to say, Angelina's presence hinders the film.
I kept having to ignore her in order to experience the story and imo that's no good.
Her affectations redirected the focus off topic & onto herself . . .
Value. Vulnerable. Very Beautiful.share
