She was too busy with Norbit.

I wish Brad would've cast a Black or mixed race actress to play Marianne Pearl. It would've been a more accurate and powerful portrayal. He has an African adopted daughter so you would think he would be more racially aware.

reply

It would have been more accurate to have her portrayed by a black actress when Marianne Pearl's not black? And that would grant the production your personal glorious blessing as "more racially aware"? Are you totally insane or just pathologically stupid?

The IMDB forums have got more idiots, leftist psychotics and anti-Semites than New York City has cockroaches.

Looks-wise Troy Beyer would have been perfect! http://content6.flixster.com/photo/89/63/70/8963704_tml.jpg

Absolutely.

Thandie Newton = brilliant choice.

Even an unknown actor - preferably Francophone - would've been better cast as Marianne than Jolie ...

I think Nicole Lyn should have played her since she has similar heritage. She's chinese, black and white just like Mariane. But Thandie Newton looks the part. So does Sophie Okonedo. But i'm certain she chose Angelina because of status. I'm black and even I would probably like to delude myself by having Angelina Jolie play me.

Sophie Okonedo would have been so amazing, she would have sent this film into the stratosphere. She acts with such integrity, grit and emotion. Boy, I love her. Such a pity Brad produced this film - he probably bowed under the pressure to cast his pretty egotistical wife. Her "just give me an OSCAAR"" wailing was excruciating.
