I have a question...

Ok I have a soundtrack it seems from this musical on cd and I can't stop listening to it. I am a big fan of musicals and rock operas or whatever. I really wish I could put a visual to what I am listening to. Is there a movie version of this somewhere at all? I seem to be looking in all the wrong places or maybe it never made it to dvd or video. Thanks for all your help. (oh and Thunder Child I think is my favorite track;))

this is a concert version available on dvd (and is often on sky - in fact we're watching it at the moment!)

It began life solely as a studio recording, so it was never actually written as a stage musical.

But then, about 30 years after it was first recorded, a concert version was devised in 2006 -- it's not a fully staged musical either, but it does have a lot of CGI visuals devised to animate the story, projected on a massive screen across the back of the stage. It's interesting, and very cleverly done, but all in all I think the show works better merely as an audio piece. For myself, I bought the DVD on spec, but I'm going to sell it off and stick with the CD.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

the original is much better - for one thing it has phil lynott instead of russell 'crap voice' watson - i mean there really is no contest

and julie covington, although the one on the dvd wasn't too bad

good to see some of the original instrumentalists there though
