Predictable plot; fun movie nonetheless.......... ...

Discovered this by chance on a thrift store shelf. As a kid, I loved aircraft, especially warbirds; that is WWII combat aircraft for all you neophytes out there in cyberspace. So, for a buck I couldn't pass this one up as it has sexy women and aircraft on the cover!

Entirely predictable plot from the first five minutes but enjoyable nonetheless. Small town hunk spinning his wheels in a dead-end family business, wants to spread his wings (literally & figuratively), gets his chance when he is recruited by a Tom-Cruise esque grifter, gets the job, gets the girl, loses the job to tend to his now-ill father, etc. etc. etc. etc.

I don't mind plot holes IF they are explained away, but this one has a plot hole so big, you could fly a Goodyear FG-1 Corsair through. It is never explained how a crop dusting boy of around 25 or so years of age could climb right into the cockpit of a WWII fighter and feel right at home. Hell, even Luke Skywalker had to spend some off-screen time in a simulator before he could fly his X-Wing on his fateful mission!!!

The movie was silly fun and ended just like it should have: the guy and girl settle down to raise a family in the small town; the father is proud of his son and they are now pals, the grifter is presumably behind bars and the cheating, lying and conniving F7F pilot (named J.R., just in case the audience didn't get how bad a character he was supposed to be) has lost the race and presumably his power, standing in the race community, etc.
