Title doesn't do movie justice

With a title like that I half heartedly turned to it, expecting jokes from a script that Tracy Morgan or Kevin Hart would be involved in (the telltale sign of a bad movie is if either of those two are in it btw). It's a great movie and I enjoyed it.

What are some other movies like it? Off the top of my head I think of:

Loving Jezabel: Hill Harper is in it. It is probably the most similar movie
Premium: Zoe Saladana and a relatively new actor. good stuff

I actually only tined in for the actress Lynn Chen, because I already made up in my mind (by the title) the movie was gonna be stupid. But it was actually pretty good. I was cheering at the end.

I agree 100%. I watched it online on Netflix. I was just skipping over the free comedy movies for the immediate play, and I came across this. I read a few of the reviews, and didn't understand how they could be for a movie with a title like that.

They easily could have just named it

''The Inevitable Undoing of James Brooks''

Good movie regardless, though.

great movie.

there are so many films coming out these days...that you have to have have an attention grabbing title to get noticed.

This movie is a great find though.

That was the original title. Studio wanted the change.

I think it hurt the movie because it was independent. If it was a mainstream movie, people would go to theaters just to complain.

Don't tell me what I can't do!

reply

It would have been perfect if they'd just named the movie the same name as the title as the girl's book in the movie. I forget the title, but I remember thinking it really related to the subject matter of the movie. Something about the inevitable is "bound to happen."

This popular household product could be slowly killing you. Tune in at 11 to find out what it is.

You got a point there. I would have never watched this movie if it wasnt for the title. I thought it was going to be along the lines of how to be a player with bill bellamy but this was pretty different. Cant judge a book by its cover.

reply

The fact that you can't remember the name of the book (The Inevitable is Bound to Happen) shows why the title of the film is good for the movie. It sticks out and it is what made me watch the movie in the first place. I thought it was a good movie, and I laughed throughout.

I agree. I came to this forum just to say this fun movie has one of the most unfortunate titles I've ever seen.

Agreed. I would've titled the movie "Operation Brown Sugar". Or maybe just "The Inevitable Undoing of Jay Brooks".
