DVD releases in UK

Does anybody know why there appear to be two versions due for release in the UK (according to Mr Amazon):-

1. From Universal, due out 24 June 2008, run-time 103 minutes. Multi-region (but still PAL)

2. From Axiom Films, due out 22 Sept 2008, run-time not specified yet. Region 2 PAL.

I have seen the film & thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the pace, and can only think of one scene that might repeat might have benefitted from a little pruning. Even given our faster DVD running times (due to 24 fps material being cranked out at 25 fps), the Universal version suggests around 16 minutes may have been cut. Ouch - vicious & crazy if true.

I'd advise people to wait for the Axiom release if it has escaped this treatment (& if so should run at about 119 minutes).

And strange to have this sort of competition over the first release of the DVD, I've not seen it before.

Amazon is listing the US & UK DVD releases, which is why you see 2 versions.

1. The US DVD release of Honeydripper is 24 June 2008. It's probably a typo since the movie is not 103 minutes, but rather 2hrs and 3mins.

2. Axiom is the UK distributor for Honeydripper so they are releasing the UK DVD in Sept. it looks like.
