Gallowwalkers vs. Denzel's covert westerns: Book of Eli/2GUNS

Its interesting that both these guys have moved into this genre. As somewhat expected Snipes film is a more straightforward western while ever the pragmatist Denzel covers his bets with his entries. Mr. Washington anticipates that his more knowledgeable audience will recognize western genre conventions right away. Intend to watch Gallowwalkers soon.

Uh there's no comparison between these two movies. Book of Eli was in no way a "Western"...it was a post-apocalyptic sci-fi. Completely different genre.

The most obvious differences is that Book of Eli wasn't a steaming turd of a movie and Denzel can act.

So there is no way that a writer could not have re-written this story and set it post civil war(Book of Eli)? I disagree but as they say everyone is entitled to their opinion.

No they couldn't have. The entire point of Book of Eli was the power of the written word and preserving knowledge after most books and knowledge in the world had been destroyed. It was about rebuilding society in a post-apocalyptic world.

What would be the point of him protecting a bible in post civil war? Who would he be protecting it from? Why would people be fighting over food and water? Like I said, completely different genres.

Other than the leads in both movies being a dust covered black man there is nothing comparable about the two.

I'm not a huge wrap for The Book of Eli, but it's a far, far better put together film than this baby, which let's be honest, sat on a shelf for 6 years for a very good reason ... it's a mess.🐭
