No longer part of the Monster Cinematic Universe?

Initially this was supposed to kick it off, but considering the medicore reception and BO, I keep reading that The Mummy will be the first film in the series.

This will be the only comment or reply you'll get. Like I give a sh!t about YOUR interwebz opinion.

That's a shame cause this is a really good film, and I'd like to see sequels.

Even if The Mummy is meant to be the official starting film in the Monsters Universe. There's nothing preventing them from incorporating Luke Evans or indeed the events of Dracula Untold into that universe.

If impersonating a Police Officer is an offence, shouldn't actors be imprisoned?

reply

Yes, maybe by inserting Luke Evans into the Van Helsing movie. That would complete the cycle.

reply

The writer of Mummy said officially it IS NOT part of the cinematic universe. I'm 98% sure Dracula will probably show up (if at all) in the Van Helsing film, as a villain.

It is always sad to see studios flip-flopping because of a bit of flak. The film is not half as bad as the critics would make you believe. The film has many weak parts; but Luke Evans, Charles Dance, and their characters are not amongst them. Since the two of them are the only bits that would live on in the extended universe, it is foolish by the studio to write that film of. That Dracula character has a lot of potential, and we all no how great Dance can be given a decent script.

That's sad, I really like Luke Evans as the Dracula and Charles Dance as the Master Vampire.

If this movie had been a massive hit, it would have remained the first film in Universal's Monster Universe (as it was originally planned to be). But because it underwhelmed at the box office, Universal have swept it under the carpet and are doing their best to pretend it never happened (the same way that the under-performing Green Lantern movie has nothing to do with Warner Bros/DC's Expanded Universe). Failure (real or perceived) is not allowed in Hollywood.
