Sooo... Sequel?

The end of that seems primed for a sequel... Is there going to be one? It SEEMS like they want to do one...

reply

Hopefully not

reply

It certainly made enough to warrant a sequel. I think Universal is still deciding if they want to include it in the shared universe they're starting or not. Critics didn't like Dracula Untold, but I think audiences did well enough. We'll see.

reply

I hope so!

It did well at the box office and was a top DVD seller.

reply

If see a sequel. I didn't think it was the greatest film but it was certainly entertaining!! The way it ended it sure looked like they were hoping it did well enough to continue a story.

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!

reply

I'd much rather see this continued as a television series. Since True Blood is gone, I can definitely see a series based off the ending of this movie being a success and kinda fill that void.

reply

I agree with you that a TV series would be a good thing.
But they should first make a feature sequel to see how it'll be received.
It's however perhaps the best "Dracula"we have seen for a long time after the
"Dracula 2000" trilogy.

If you don't know them yet, allow me to introduce you to 3 remarkable
modern authors of vampire stories that are NOT of the "Twilight" ilk.

1/ Kim Newman
with his series beginning with the hallucinant 1993"Anno Dracula"
the alternative History of the British Empire mixing Victorian politics
steered Dracula's way, Sherlock Holmes, Jack-the-Ripper(his id a real howl !),
Rupert de Hentzau, the Elephant Man, Chinese vampires, Lord Ruthven ;
in a delirious whirlwind of irrational logic.

2/ Tom Holland
(author born 1968, while our "Fright Night" Tom Holland is born in 1943)
specialist on Lord Byron and Balkans vampiric themes.
He wrote :
_"Vampyre" featuring Lord Byron as a vampire.
_"Supping with Panthers" aka "Supping with Vampyres" aka "Slave to My Thirst".
Mixing Dracula's reality with Bram Stoker's genesis of his novel.
In view of this author's latest works as a historian, I am not surprised if he has been ostracised.
He is relevant however to our "Dracula Untold".

3/ Robert MacCammon
_ "They Thirst"
To say that it's Tom Clancy meets Bram Stoker is enough.

Needless to say, I am surprised that their masterpieces have never been
adapted to the screen.

While we are still on the subject of modern litterary masterpieces ignored by
Hollywood, let me mention 3 other authors and their outstanding works :

1/ Orlando R. Petrocelli
_ "The Pact" 1973.
A deceptively "normal" novel of a pact with the devil for political power.
Let me just say that if Mr. Petrocelli had formed his characters as Irish instead of Italian, he would have be sued by a certain very prominent
American family.
Yet this novel with its sequel "The Carlona Legacy" has largely been ignored.
On Amazon there 's no customer's review.

2/ R.V.(Ronald Verlin) Cassill
_ "Dr. Cobb's Game" 1969
A roman-a-clef based on the 1960 Profumo Scandal, with the title character
modeled after the real-life Dr. Ward.
The author went behind the scenes to speculate about the depraved satanic
rituals performed by Dr. Cobb.
The most terrifying description is that of a demonic attack on another person, occurring right before Dr. Cobb's helpless presence with shameful results for him.

3/ Warren Newton Beath
_ "Bloodletter" 1995
Strangely ignored by Hollywood too.
Perhaps because of its very setting in Hollywood.

Thank you for your patience.

1. BVS 2. TWS 3. Avenger

reply

A TV series on Dracula would be fun right about now. I liked Luke Evans in this.

reply

[deleted]

It probably be called dracula:forever

reply

I am hoping for a sequel though it has been more than a year already.

reply

Erm, no, it didn't. It also received mostly bad reviews from the audience as well as critics.

From what i remember most of the reviews were fairly positive. certainly no worse than some of the garbage that comes out of Hollywood. Dracula Untold was a pretty good film.

reply

I am certainly hoping for a sequal. The ending was pointing towards one. I can only hope that this movie was sucessful enough to have one made.

reply

I'd go see it. I was interested to see how Charles Dance was planning on getting his revenge on the demon that tricked him into becoming a vampire.

reply

and do what the original story that Bram Stoker wrote.

reply

Oh I hope so, it was a very enjoyable version and had everything I love about a movie. Action, suspense, romance, and very primed for a sequel.
