I bought the movie because I liked it.

I bought the movie because I liked it. Harvey is an acquired taste on his acting as in "Independence Day" or "Mrs. Doubtfire." He sang in his latest Broadway hit "Catered Affair" and was downright hilarious. His spot as "Heat Miser" was spot-on as being totally ridiculous and absolutely brilliant. Remember they were two brothers who couldn't get along unless Mommy was there. John Goodman as Santa Claus was perfect and so was Delta Burke as Mrs. Claus. The rest of the characters were also very good and the end was the perfect comeuppance for Chris Kattan's character of complete screw-up on ice. For those of you who didn't like it maybe you would like "Ishtar" instead since that seems to be your speed according to your comments.

Takes one to know one. Besides, to off oneself with a gun (pistol or 30.06) is quite messy and that just isn't my style. Maybe it is yours since you lack the brains to be intelligent and keep your judgement to yourself of what a person prefers. This movie happens to be good escapist humor with a serious side taken from the Jimmy Stewart movie so popular this time of year that does not appeal to me after one viewing. However I am not going to judge people less than intelligent if they happen to love it. Check out your signature about freedom so unless you are a hypocrite take your own advice and respect other people's choices. Freedom of choice gives me the right to like what I want and with no recriminations from/about other people.

I'd have to agree with you. While the original is one of my favorite Rankin/Bass productions (of which I actually adore every single one), and I have infinite respect for it (as well as the only pair of Miser Brothers lawn decorations I've ever seen), I don't believe that this somehow "ruins" it. It doesn't touch it. It's simply a fun little take on the story and characters, removed to the modern, live-action world. I enjoyed it just enough to record and burn it onto a DVD.

The actors all did the best they could with what they were given. John, Delta, Chris, etc., all did quite fine. There were good moments throughout, and although I wouldn't on the whole say that I LOVE the movie, what I did love about it were the Miser scenes. Harvey and Michael totally stole the show and were a complete hoot. I've been a fan of both for a long time, and while I'd never imagined them in those roles, it came out well...also, I HAD imagined the concept of "Miserettes" quite some years before this came out.
