John Goodman can't be Santa

Goodman has already played Santa Claus and he was a murderer. He was one of the coolest Futurama characters and once you play an evil Santa you can't go back.

how many younger kids do you think have seen futurama let alone that specific episode? kids are the target audience not older people.

Where's the monkey? I want to shoot something.

reply

Actually, I think the target audience is parents who were kids when the original came out. They're betting on the nostalgia card.

I agree. Tim Allen has copywrited Santa Claus, and no one but Tim Allen can be Santa Claus, for Tim Allen is forever destined to be Santa Claus.

There have been many good Santas over the years. And while "The Santa Clause" was a good movie, I'm still not totally sold on Tim Allen. John Goodman had the look better, even if the movie version of "The Year Without A Santa Claus" paled in comparison to the Rankin-Bass classic. That being said, it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.

i saw Goodman as they were filming, and he was a natural at it.

I'd imagine Goodman would make a really good Santa.

Besides if you don't like it, Goodman will shove coal so far up your stockings you'll be coughing up diamonds!

That's right. Goodman can do it all. I'm honestly semi interested in this movie only because of Goodman!

Warwick Davis has played an evil leprechaun in a movie series, and in the intervening years between the various sequels, he appeared in two other movies a two different GOOD leprechauns.

John Goodman can play anything; that's what being an actor is all about. Besides, I don't watch "Futurama," but from Matt Groening's drawing style, I can't imagine the cartoon character could look that much like the real John Goodman.

Mind you, considering Mickey Rooney played Santa in the original Rankin-Bass special, I think he should have been given a shot at it, or at least a cameo.

"Only a Sith deals in absolutes" is an absolute statement.

John Goodman is going to play a great Santa, he played Santa before in the animated film, Rudolph: The Movie.

reply

He didn't look like Goodman because he was a Santabot. We watch that episode of Futurama every Christmas after the kids go to bed. New tradition. Awesomely funny episode, especially when Santabot says, "Time to get jolly on your naughty little asses!" What larks.

But--just from his rendition of evil Santabot you could tell Goodman would make an excellent Santa. I am looking forward to this ensemble cast in a remake of a classic animated special. I hope they straighten out some things--for example, why did Iggy who was from Southtown talk more like he was from Philly than Nawlins?
