Who are Snowy's and Heat's Dad's

Mother Nature is the mom of Snowny and Heat but who are their dads?

Snow Miser said Heat Miser is his half bro so who's his dad? I've got a goog idea Jack Frost!

I don't have any idea who Heat Miser's dad might be?

If we follow the song sung by Debbie Reynolds in "Charlotte's Web" (1973) as well as the depictions in the Smurfs cartoons, then the spouse of Mother Nature (or Mother Earth, as she was called in 'Charlotte's Web') was Father Time, and in relation to "Year Without A Santa Claus", the best depiction of Father Time is found in "Rudolph's Shiny New Year" voiced by Red Skelton.

So there's a visual image of a relationship now isnt there?

Tho in the English show "Mulberry" where the son of Death had to claim his first client and he wanted to show her life instead, his mother was regarded to be Springtime.

So whatever difference you can make between Spring and Mother Nature, more power to you.

Jack Frost is a good bet. But not quite right.
If you seen the Rankin bass Jack Frost special he doesn't quite look much like Snow Miser.

But If you've seen Santa Claus Is Comin to Town.
Check out the Winter Warlock..

Now as for heat miser, we don't have to look any further than another villain in the same special Santa Claus is Comin to town..

Burger Meister MeisterBurger is Heat miser's dad.

What does that say about good old Mother Natche?

She's a trifling ho, who's into bad boys.

winter warlock turned good, remember that! ;]

Which would explain why Snow Miser's the nicer of the two Miser bros.

Burgomeister Meisterburger is an ordinary mortal, and under the impression that the Miser Brothers have been around for quite some millennia, it's unlikely at best that Meisterburger could have been Heat's father. The physical similarity between them, I think, is simply due to the fact that they are two examples of a character type for which Rankin and Bass used similar shapes.

Besides, can you see Mother Nature going for that clown?

I went to this one site where this guy was offering some pretty funny theories into who fathered the Miser brothers, and he thinks that the Heat Miser's father was Satan, I think he agreed that Jack Frost was probably the Snow Miser's father.

As with the Burgermeister, I think Mother Nature would have better taste than to cohabit with Old Scratch-- as if that were possible.

Jack Frost's name has come up here elsewhere, but if all the Rankin-Bass Christmas specials are presumed to take place in the same reality (with the obvious exception of "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus," which offers a different origin story than "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"), then from his own eponymous show, Jack is an unlikely candidate, being too young (perceptibly at least) and apparently fated to life as a bachelor.

If in any R-B special we've met either of the Miser Brothers' fathers, I would plump for the Winter Warlock as Snow's father, if he's old enough; remember, Snow and Heat are probably immortals who have been around for centuries. They have the same nose, that's for sure.

A striking resemblnce to Jon Pertwee has our Snow Miser!

Obviously it's Father Time. Otherwise the seasons would be chaotic.

He's the bear Zootham deserves but not the one it needs.

reply

Almost definitely Winter Warlock for Snowy, but the jury's out on Heat...! It'd be great to get some official background on this stuff.
