See this movie, it's great, and for a great cause!

If you're one of those people that goes to the theater and/or rents movies, yet before you watch it, you have to figure out what to do with your kids because you're unsure if they might hear or see something that's objectionable and you tired of having to do that just to be entertained...and quite frankly, you just wish that somebody would make a movie that would be great for the whole family yet still entertaining...then this movie was made for people just like you. Honestly, Hollywood has all but abandoned the idea that anything above an animated movie is the only suitable cinematic entertainment for the whole family...and they are WRONG!

I grew up watching shows like The Dukes of Hazzard, and me, my parents, and grandparents could all sit in the living room and watch it, yet no one be offended. Of course, my grandmother thought Daisy's shorts were a little too short, but that's grandmother's for you...gotta love 'em. Personally, I believe that TDOH was one of the last great American tv shows that the whole family could enjoy...and if you liked the show (and who didn't), then you'll love this movie. There are a lot of those same elements in this movie that you loved about the show...including an orange 1969 Dodge Charger racing, jumping, and tearing up the back roads, not to mention, John Schneider himself is the man behind the wheel. I have an 85 year old grandmother who's been one of my best friends my whole life (and I would almost swear she has her own hotline directly to God), and I have a 6 year old son who I would like to keep 6 years old for as long as possible...and somewhere in the middle, you have me...and all three of us could sit & watch this movie and all three of us could be entertained for the same reasons...and never once have to worry about covering the other one's ears or eyes. I'm sure there are those don't care, but for those of us that do, being able to truly be entertained like that means something to us...as I'm sure it does a lot of you.

Sadly enough, Hollywood decided not to back this movie because they said that "there is no such thing as a real family movie anymore"...they said "it doesn't exist because those movie-goers don't exist". So John Schneider (along with his real family & friends) decided to make it on their own anyway...and give us the choice to decide for ourselves. So if you don't like having your choices made for you by some "fat-pocket suit" who thought The Dukes of Hazzard movie was a good form of entertainment, I strongly suggest you go see this movie for yourself...you will not be disappointed. Not only will you be entertained with cool car chases and laugh outloud comedy, but you'll also be sending a message to Hollywood that we, the movie viewing public, WILL support a movie like this, even if they won't...and would love to have the option of taking our kids to the theater with us, and/or the option of not having to select who sits in the living room when we turn on the tv. So you're not only getting your money's worth of entertainment, but by supporting this movie you're also helping convey a message to bring back what so many of us miss...the real American family entertainment. It's not dead Hollywood, it's just wrongly overlooked...and it's time somebody did some house cleaning in Tinseltown and gave the ol' crappola film machine a facelift. I'm tired of wasting my money on finely polished & rehashed perversive crap that you slap a couple teeny-bopper faces into just to fill seats, only to find out that my money only went to help the fill pockets of someone who thinks they know what I like, and all I got in return was a lot of fluff and very little entertainment that I, as a responsible parent, had to monitor first before my kids watched it...just to wind up feeling cheated for my money and have my intelligence belittled by watching that stinkfest you call "cinematic entertainment". I actually had the oppurtunity to see this movie last weekend (3/4/07), and I simply loved it...and this weekend I'm going back again to take my son to see it. He's as much of Dukefan now that I was when I was a child, and I know that he will love this movie too.

What a wonderful description of a wonderful movie. I saw it in October and laughed throughout the entire movie. There are so many references to the Dukes of Hazzard TV series. I felt as though I were watching Bo Duke twenty years later with a wife and daughter. Not only is there the comedy but there is also the action. "Collier & Co. - Hot Pursuit" is full of action. Car chases, car jumps, you will be glued to your seat! Take your entire family and go see this movie. You will be glad that you did.

You're right, I noticed a LOT of Dukes references sprinkled throughout the whole movie...as I'm sure they were intentional, and a great touch as well. There were so many, it was like I was finding a new one in virtually every other scene. Especially the scenes shot in his office at home, I counted about 10 in that one room alone. Graanted, a lot of them were subtle and you had to look for them, and most of the ones I saw were pictures on the wall or a diecast car placed somewhere, but my absolute favorite was when Tex & Shorty wrecked his grandfather's car, and Shorty starting doing his impression of Rosco P. Coltrane...I thought I was going to fall out of my seat laughing.

I'll be honest, I didn't know what to expect of this movie before seeing it, but I had heard that it was basically like an updated version of the Dukes (only without the other characters), and that if you loved the show, you'll love the movie. Well, that was all I needed to hear, and I have to say, it was a LOT better than I was expecting. The cool thing about it was, it was like paying a matinee price during peak-time hours. I mean, I can't count the times I've went to the theater and left wishing I had saved my money...and believe me, I've spent a lot more that 6 bucks on something, and gotten a lot less. The upside is, you're getting inside reviews right here from people who have already seen it, and everyone here keeps giving it great reviews, not to mention it just surpassed "Wild Hogs" at many of the theaters throughout the Southeast, and knowing all of that ahead of time, what do you really have to lose?

So I encourage everyone, especially if you're a Dukes fan, get to the theater and check this movie out...you won't be sorry. Don't give it the ol' "I'll wait and check it out on dvd" treatment...because anyone can make a movie and let it go direct-to-video. It's important that we see it in theaters so we can send a message to Hollywood that movies like this WILL fill theater seats...and maybe next time they won't take a classic like The Dukes of Hazzard and give it the "American Pie" treatment for theaters...because they think it has to be perverse to be funny & entertaining, I just think it's insulting.

Check your local theaters for showtimes, and if it's not showing in your area, simply ask them when it will be. If they say "it won't be", ask them "why not", and tell them they don't currently have anything in their lineup that you can bring your whole family to see...and you would like for them to bring this movie to the theaters so you & your family can come enjoy a movie for everyone, and that of all the theaters in town, you prefer THEM and would like to spend your money there. Speak to their wallets, they might not hear anything else, and if we (the movie viewing public) don't speak up, then how else will they know what we really want?
