SO Disappointed...

I had such high hopes for this movie, but it was almost nothing like the books.
(obviously it was kind of like the books, but you know what I mean)

They left out SO much! Can you say Halloween, Molly's birthday, Camp Gowonagen (however that was spelled), Brad (Molly's other little brother) and what was going on with the changing of character plots ? Mrs. Gilford did not have a son die in the war, and she was the housekeeper long before Mr. McIntire went to war, Ms. Campbelle's fiance did not die in the war either. Emily was not with the McIntires for the whole storyline, and none of the actors really looked like the characters they were playing. Not even Molly. And what wasn't left out or changed was out of order.

As far as I can tell the only thing that was right about the movie was when Molly wouldn't eat her turnips.

Very disappointed.

I'm not certain about this, but I believe in the book Changes for Molly, it mentions Ms. Campbell's fiance being killed.

I believe you are right- Changes DID mention Mrs. Cambells fiance beink killed.

I too was disappointed. Plots changed, so much was left out- or added (Molly didn't even DANCE Miss Victory as she was sick). No fussing with her hair to make it curly, and in the books I thought she danced GREAT. Dad was only mentioned in the books, Mrs. Guilford was older, and Molly had a little brother. I could go on and on. Didn't Mom volunteer for the Red Cross?

Does it really matter? changes I mean, admittedly I never read the book, just saw this delightful film and wont forget it..or the actors.

When Molly`s Father returned..oh I had hoped he would, and then I just wondered if perhaps along with him could have been Emilys Father also, poor little girl having lost her Mum, it would have been even more special.

And I must add that the young actress Tory Green who played Emily is NOT english, goodness her accent was perfect!.
Accents are funny, I am half english and half canadian, but the times I get took for irish??? :D tis true.

Hilary :)

As was I. Had Molly; read all her books. No Brad. Is it just me, or did dance class seem part of school? (and Molly not seeming good at first)? She didn't do victory dance. Christmas gifts even off... Girls despising Emily on arrival (Emily seemed younger in movie; Molly older for 9) Tea Party birthday idea came from Emily.... I saw someone post does it matter; I think it does if you try to write it off as something already in existence.
