I thought this whole movie was very well done...and even most of Molly Ringwald's performance was fine, except whenever she had to call one of the kids in the movie "dear." I have never heard an actress say the word "dear" less convincingly than Molly Ringwald.
*L* I'm so glad I wasn't alone in that. Everytime she said "dear" I cringed. You'd have thought the director would've let her stop saying that, it was so fake. Nothing against Molly Ringwald but she didn't show the same personality I got from the books for Mrs. McIntire.
I almost didn't recognize her. The last time I saw her she had a pixie cut for hair and was in Not another Teen Movie. I think she makes a much more convincing teenager than a mom, even at her age now.
I even wonder if she was deliberately trying to upstage all the cute kids in the movie with her snide "dear" renditions - unbelievable! The utterance of those unconvincing lines did bring the attention back onto her, however negatively.
wow. I haven't seen this movie but these seem to be harsh words towards Ms.Ringwald. Nothing against you, I was just curious towards her performances now.
I thought Ms. Ringwald delivered an ok performance, but I must admit that her utterance of the word "dear" sounded cold. Also, whenever her character was supposed to be upset, she came across as a soap queen -- too much outward emotion but not enough inner turmoil. Having seen her in all those 80's Brat Pack flicks, I was rather disappointed with her Mrs. McIntire. Oh well, I'm still a Ringwald fan -- just not for this movie. :)
~ I thought Molly Ringwald did a pretty good performance in this movie. Not the greatest but still good. I will always love her 80's flicks.

She was hideous. It's like any acting ability she once had was thrown out the window. She had no clue how to act around children and wasn't believeable for even a second. Time to quit acting and live off your residuals Molly.
OMG between her eyes almost popping out of her head for most of the film, her eerie smile, the forced "dear" and the fact that she acted positively robotic in her movements, I was half-expecting during the whole film that this was a parody of the American girls movie and she'd suddenly pull out a knife and start hacking at everyone.
There is only one word that describes her acting in this movie...
