Questions

Ok, I have some questions...

Did anybody ever pick up on this vibe between Erik and Kari when they would talk. There's only a couple scenes in the movie where they are speaking to each other but it almost seems like there is an attraction between them. I mean, yes, they're both attractive people and maybe that's all, but I kept feeling like I was picking up on this strange unspoken attraction. Was I just misinterpretting that or did anbody else feel that way?

Another questions is: In the final scene when Phillip and Kari are talking and he's counting again and she pulls his nose tells him to stop and he continues counting. Did anyone else think that she had this look on her face like she was starting to get fed up with his neurosis and would eventually leave him???

And I guess my 3rd question is, what are we supposed to think about Erik and Phillip in the end? Especially Erik. I mean, he seems to have found what he was looking for, an individual place in the literary world. But he had to completely cut himself off from everything to do so. Is this supposed to be seen as a good thing or bad thing? In the final shot when they show him on the plane, what is he supposed to be thinking? Is he going to just continue living a life of exile???

I'm really interested to hear what others have to say....
