Possibly the best crime series from anywhere, ever.

Series one was the most gripping, beautifully scripted and acted crime drama ever seen on tv in my opinion, if just a little drawn out to meet the 20 episode requirement ... the intense atmosphere just never let up. ... Series twowas good but a bit of a let down in the suspense-factor ... series three was a brilliant return to form with dreadful suspense lasting right up to the final second of the last episode ... another Scandi-noir triumph to which can be added:

Borgen (brilliant series about small-country politics).
Arne Dahl
Unit 1
The Eagle
Sebastian Bergman
The Bridge

The French series The Spiral and Braquo are pretty good stuff too.[

Chacun a son gout.

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.

reply

That's weird. In french the correct expressions are: “chacun son gout”, “chacun ses gouts”, “à chacun son gout”, “à chacun ses gouts”. And you may write “goût” (old spelling) instead of “gout”.

But “chacun a son gout” is correct but never used, and “chacun à son gout” is grammatically incorrect.

You should watch the British crime drama, Prime Suspect http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098898/?ref_=rvi_tt- the writers were really influenced by it and Sofie is a huge fan; she basically modelled her character on Tennison.

she basically modelled her character on Tennison

I highly doubt that.

This is better than the American version it inspired, but I've seen far more excellent crime series. The Bridge, the Scandinavian original, was a great and more suspenseful crime series with a simplistic and believable storyline. The American version of the Bridge was utter rubbish.

reply

There is a british version called The Tunnell ... heard it's good, haven't seen it.

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.

reply

The Bridge has a ridiculous plot. It's good fun, and the 2 leads are really engaging, but there is nothing remotely believable about any of it.

reply

An American version rubbish? You must be joking? Yeah the foreign version might be ok...but you gotta read subtites..yikes.Gad .

reply

The American versions are generally rubbish - what's new about this?

And what's wrong with reading subtitles? Does it strain your brain cells too much?

reply

Nice nice list. Add WALLANDERs and Beck.

Notice crazy IMDB... this post says BEST CRIME SHOW EVER....and previous says WHAT DISAPPOINTMENT.... Go figure.

reply

I agree and I also loved Engrenages.

There's one glaring omission from your list of programmes. If you haven't seen it, you must watch both seasons of Italian crime drama 'Romanzo Criminale' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1242773/?ref_=nv_sr_1 which in my humble opinion is the best thing I've ever seen on TV. I promise you, you won't be disappointed!
