There are a few things that kind of confused me in this film.
For one thing, in the beginning, Danny and Carter's first night together, they mention Carter kissing Danny on the cheek. But I don't recall seeing Carter doing that. There were times where their faces got very close but I never saw a kiss on the cheek. Could someone explain what scene it happens in?

Then during this first English Class scene, the teacher says that the essays are due 'tomorrow'. But later on there's a montage of Carter and Danny spending what seems to be several days together before they actually hand in the essays.

In the scene when Carter is crying in his room and trashing things, his dad's at the door, was Carter more upset because he came in second at the swim finals or that he had a fallout with Danny?

In the end, it's never really explained how Carter died. The principal just says he was 'found dead'. Some people online say it was suicide but they never say so in the movie.

I also would've liked to see more background on the two lovers, namely their/their parents' history with alcoholism. I can't imagine Danny's mom being an alcoholic, so I'd like to know what it was like when their parents drank. I'd also liked to have known something about Danny's dad and Carter's mom other than one died and the other's in jail. I'd like to have a tender conversation between them about these kinds of things. I think it'd be really sweet.

I'd like to know how Carter's dad and the coach feel knowing that they contributed to Carter's breakdown and possible suicide, or if they know at all. The coach was kind of a jerk by the way.
