The twins

The twins did a great job, but this movie had only 1 likable character (max) and the rest was strange and pointless. Many scenes were disturbing and this film did not need to be like this. It was a good premise, but poorly executed. I saw this at the pittsburgh film festival at melwood screening room and was amazed at how many people laughed during a murder scene. I just did not get it. Can someone explain the humor to me? I hated this movie and I hope the director changes her ways.

Strange Girls was just an all-around poorly made film and I agree with all of your points. I really didn't find much humor in this movie at all and most of the violence seemed to be included just for the sake disturbing the viewer.

The twins are adorable, they should make "Strange Girls 2"

First off, you went to a film screening about twins who go around and kill people.
Second, I think most people who got the chance to see it at a festival, would think some of the scenes were some what funny. The Director, Rona Mark made a tremendous award winning film, 2 thumbs up from a new fan!

Killing an annoying neighbor, sounds funny to me.

Go see this movie, leave the kids and the yuppies home alone.

I agree! For heaven's sakes it's a low budget independent movie set in Pittsburgh of all places. The twins provide memorable images. I can't think of a better opening sequence. Both my husband and his friends missed the pan over the head doctor's id card before he switched to cross-dressing auto-erotic asphixia, but still, a disturbing and interestingly shot scene with a purpose.

Much of the humor is derived between the twin's vibrant created reality (in supersaturated color) vs. uh...I guess the dreary reality of Pittsburgh (I grew up around there, it can be pretty dreary). Did you get the joke of the landlady's name? Or that the twins, despite their rather morbid tastes and gothic romanticism were into fuzzy topped pencils and curly cute writing?

I wanted more of what lead into the bizzare spanking punishment scene.

I guess if you watch it in a room full of people, it's not as disturbing, so some scenes may be unintentionally funy, like the lobotomy scene.

i guarantee you the humor is intentional, and it's meant to make you uncomfortable and question whether or not you're supposed to laugh.
