Yes as far as I know it is an indie film. You can tell by the film quality.

Hey, everyone! I'm the editor of 'The Indian.' Wanted to let you know that the trailer you saw was an old one based on a rough cut. The lower quality was at least partly due to the mix, color, and framing issues we've now addressed.

...That said, mlutz99, you're right: this is an indie! Despite the mistaken information previously on imdb about Sony Classics being our distributor, as of today we're in contact with various distributors. No deal or release date. Yet. ;o)
