Peace Arch Acquires Exclusive North American Distribution Rights to Much-Anticipated Crime Thriller 'Towards Darkness'

TORONTO--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 25, 2007 -- Peace Arch Entertainment Group Inc. (AMEX:PAE - News) (Toronto:PAE.TO - News), an integrated global entertainment company creating critically acclaimed television, film and DVD content for worldwide distribution, announced today that it has acquired North American theatrical, DVD and television distribution rights to the crime thriller "Towards Darkness," which the company has slated for an early 2008 theatrical release in both the English and Spanish-speaking markets in the U.S. and Canada.

The deal to acquire the film was negotiated on behalf of the producers by Ronna Wallace, president of Eastgate Pictures and by Berry Meyerowitz and Mark Balsam of Peace Arch Entertainment.

Written and directed by Jos‚ Antonio Negret, "Towards Darkness" ("Hacia la oscuridad") stars Golden Globe®-winner America Ferrera and Tony Plana (both of "Ugly Betty" fame), David Sutcliffe ("Gilmore Girls") and William Atherton ("Desperate Housewives"). The film is based on the short film "Darkness Minus Twelve" also written and directed by Jos‚ Antonio Negret. The film is the story of 90 riveting minutes in a kidnapped hostage's life, and the frustration his family, a special ops team and the ransom delivery man all feel as they rush to save him.

Peace Arch Entertainment's current line up of feature films and long-form television programming includes the Showtime Networks multi-Emmy Award-winning television event mini-series "The Tudors" starring Golden Globe® Award-winning actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, which premiered to record audiences in the U.S. in April. Additional productions include the powerful ensemble drama "Winged Creatures," now in post-production, starring Kate Beckinsale, Academy Award®-winners Forest Whitaker and Jennifer Hudson, Dakota Fanning, Guy Pearce and Jackie Earle Haley, and the film satire "The Deal" from the best-selling Peter Lefcourt novel, with a cast that includes Academy Award®-nominee William H. Macy, Meg Ryan, LL Cool J and Elliott Gould, currently in post-production.
