three staged auditions (spoilers)

It may be impossible to know this for sure, but by my count there were three auditions staged with actors hired for the film.
Obviously, the black child singing the 'new national anthem' was an actor, since the plot really turned on her innocence and she was featured in more than one scene.
Just as obvious, the woman who worked in the bar and provided a way (unwittingly) for the sales team to get return airfare from Indianapolis after their sleazy bosses ditched them and pulled up stakes.
Number three had to be the girl group that warmed up with a solfege (do-re-mi) exercise. They weren't technically in the film but were included in the DVD.
Surely these women were actors! I think they must have cut the scene out due to length. I can't imagine an unstaged audition occurring that perfectly and not being left in.
I've been in the (legitimate) music industry 25 years, and I thought this film was great and a useful cautionary tale for anyone who is prone to believe anything a salesman will tell them. It's not just sleazy in our industry, but any group that preys on and exploits people's desire to create.
But if you don't believe me, there's a poetry anthology out there that really thinks you are ready to be published. At least that's what they told me when I submitted this poem, titled "Horfa":

Horfa horfa horfa
Horfa horfa.
Horfa?
HORFA!

Maybe they realized that horfa spelled backwards is afro(h), a profound social commentary of contemporary civilization.
Anyway the first two auditions were of course actors, the third you mentioned I'm not sure of. But I knew when I saw the film most of the others were real people, but don't feel bad for them. They got their big break being in this film.
