i say audioslave...because chris cornell just left and audioslave is my favorite band of all time and i don't want to see audioslave die just because cornell is gone. who do you all think should be on there?
I'm tempted to say Queen, but there is no way that the great Freddie Mercury can ever be replaced in this or any other lifetime. He was that good.
Let's see...Van Halen were supposed to tour with David Lee Roth again, but I don't know what's happening there, so that idea is out. Alice In Chains seem pretty happy with their new singer, William DuVall, as well.
I was sorry to hear about Audioslave. I'd be in favor of Audioslave doing the show, but something tells me they wouldn't. Another suggestion would be, dare I say, Soundgarden?
OASIS? come on!! they are a bunch of *beep* queers beatles wannabe! who do they think they are with that attitude? if they wanna behave like that they have to earn it making great music, like the rolling stones. anyways, i´d like to see PANTERA find a new guitar player, although y think the grat Dimebag Darrell might be too awesome to find someone even half as good. r.i.p.
good call on the Oasis sum-up. The show is supposed to be "Rockstar" and shouldn't be American Idol Bands.
What about Sublime? They've been milking their demos and re-releasing greatest hits albums for over a decade, maybe it's time to get Sublime back in action? They could conceivably have a female singer giving them a whole nouvelle Blondie feel.
Dude, the whole reason Oasis are feckin jackasses is BECAUSE of the Gallagher Brothers, the only two original members still in it!!!!!!!!!! Liam is the lead singer of the group, and Noel, the principal songwriter and lead guitarist, also can sing (i.e. Don't Look Back In Anger). So give your head a shake, and dont suggest things that will obviously not happen. And who suggested the Pantera thing? The show is to find a VOCALIST, so it would work if you meant Phil Anselmo replacement. Wait....he's still alive, so scratch that idiotic idea. But Dimebag?! He is one of the greatest guitarists ever, but a GUITARIST none the less. Not what the show is looking for!!!!!!!!!
Personally, i think that the house band should be the next band to form a group with a lead singer. or maybe Joy Division.
I think the reason last season's show lost some critical acclaim is because the band had picked Lukas before the show even began... Tommy Lee willingly admits it. So to create the "drama" that CBS required in order to sell the show in prime time, a lot of time was wasted critiquing singers who didn't belong and creating friction b/w contenstants.
I just don't think the show will work on a major network in a prime time slot. If there is another show, I hope they don't focus so much on seeking a vocalist and instead an overall frontman. Their ability to play an instrument should be part of it. For Supernova to play many of their songs as a group of 4, they need Lukas playing guitar too.
uhhhh............ Ur an idiot. Did you ever watch the show. Lucas played guitar multiple times on the series. And also, many bands work fine with a frontperson who doesn't play an instument, or who rarely does... i.e. RHCP, and U2.
Yes, Lukas did, which is why he won. It's why the final 4 were all those who could rock out contributing instrumentally as well as voacally. What the show needs to do to gain more credibility from rock fans, which is who will buy the CD, is not put posers like Zayra or Jill on the show.
Make it a true audition... otherwise, would-be fans will zone it out.
Getting back to the topic of the thread, I think a prime candidate for a season of "Rock Star" would be Journey. They recently fired their lead singer Jeff Scott Soto, who was only in the band for a few months after replacing their lead singer of the last 8 years, Steve Augeri. Right now, Journey is currently taking some time off to plot their next move before they figure out their lead singer situation. So far there have been a few rumors about who their next singer will be, ranging from lead singers of Journey tribute bands, their current drummer Deen Castronovo, and even a rumor with the legendary Steve Perry himself.
It would make some interesting TV, to say the least. Finding someone with enough vocal chops to get the job done would be one hell of a task.
