Product Integration

The Product integration in this show is ridiculous. They have irrelevant, blatant plugs for their advertisers that don't relate to the piece of *beep* plot at all. They have big stacks of Oreville and Redenbaker popcorn, axe, cat food, and spend 5 minutes talking about how hot pockets are the true American snack. It's awful to see how much influence big corporations have over entertainment.

The one thing i hate about this show. I know its a store, but you can bring it up for one sentence, then just move on, dont even describe it.

Of course with tivo nobody watches the actual spots, so they have to get the adds in somehow. This show is the worst offender, but it is a sad fact that other shows do it too, albeit in less overt ways
I thought some of the plugs were funny though

I can see how it makes you cringe, but I think they do it in a clever way, for the most part. Maybe not tasteful... but definitely clever (anyway, can you really pull off product placement in a tasteful way?). There's a kind of self-reflexive humor to it and some of the improv'd lines in those scenes are really hilarious.

In the early days of TV product integration was how they did all the advertising. If you would like an example...youtube "Burns and Allen carnation"

My point was that it's an opportunity for them to insert some extra humor into the show and it's better than the product placement that attempts to fly under the radar, which is just condescending and insulting to audiences.

I am well aware that product placement is nothing new. What I am saying is that it's nice to see it done in a slightly more refreshing way.

As much as I enjoy the show and occasionally find the product placement entertaining (this week's glade conversation completely missed the mark) and as much as I really hate bigger government, I'd like to see the FTC come down against this type of advertising. Commercials are tightly regulated. You get x number of minutes per half hour. With product placement, though, they completely bypass the rules and, in turn, screw over the viewer.

I like it, I hated in the 80's when the family would be eating or drinking stuff I had never sceen, truely this show would not be on the air without it, the ratings are so-so, it's only made because TBS wants original comedies, and it is made cheap, without the product placement then the show will go off the air
