'Shutter' did it better

I know that the Legend of Arang is over 400 years old in Korea and they made this movie based on it, but quite frankly a Thai movie called "Shutter" took the same concept and did it MUCH better.

If you liked "Arang", you should watch "Shutter" to see how it's done properly.

If you haven't seen "Arang" yet, watch "Shutter" first, because otherwise it's like seeing a movie before reading the book. "Shutter" wrote the book but "Arang" feels like the movie adaptation.

Shutter is a great movie, but I think Arang is great also. They have a similar theme, but thats all. I think the plot in Arang and the twist at the end are very well done, and while I see why you compare them, they do come from 2 different countries so I think its more coincidence than anything else. Its like saying a French movie copied an American one...who cares, really eh? Anyways, I like them both, and I recommend seeing them both! The music in Arang is top-notch btw..

I have seen Arang yet, but I have watched Shutter. It scared the "beep" out of me.

Well, Shutter had a different motive there (spoilers below, don't read if you haven't seen Shutter yet and plan to!).

In Arang, the ghost was exacting revenge on four spoiled rich boys who raped her, killed her boyfriend, and then arranged to have her killed. In Shutter, the ghost was so obsessed with the main guy, she took her revenge on his friends to kill them, and then latched onto him forever.

In Shutter, the ghost still loved/obsessed over the main guy, but in Arang, all she wanted was to be avenged, and thank the female cop by getting her (the cop's) rapist at the end.

I loved Shutter, don't get my wrong, I bought it two years ago and it blew my mind away. But Arang was good too, just very different from Shutter's ending, and the ghost's motives for revenge.

first of all, i don't see why anybody would compare the 2. just because there was rape, a photographer, and a ghost? seriously, we even have those in action and drama movies. those are insignificant factors when relating it to other movies.

the story is really different.

personally, i prefer shutter. i like twists but i hate twists that are not well thought out. koreans are guilty of this when it comes to horror. badly thought out twists leads to plot holes and i hate it. thai horrors require you to think but if you think hard enough, all plot holes are gone. it's different with korean horror movies.

i'm getting pretty tired of watching korean horrors. unfortunately, blockbuster has a million korean horror movies and only less than 15 thai horror movies so i have no choice but to get my horror doze from korean horrors.

I eat pieces of *beep* like you for breakfast.

Tired of Korean horror films? How about American or Horror films from other
countries?
Instead of renting films from Blockbuster (two of the nearest ones went out of
business anyway)I choose instead to watch them online.
Which is where I saw this Korean movie and Shutter.
On 2 different websites.
