The Pet -- released

The movie to me was about power and the dynamics of power exchange.

It is about trust and loyalty and about the exploitation of many of us who are on the lower rung of the economic latter. Many of us are in fact slaves today, be it economic, domestic, labor, sexual or in some cases chattel. Wake up!

The movie seriously moved me for I related to it. I was disturbed at the end and felt the need to express myself seeing the complexities of this film. It has had an impact on me in a number of ways. But in the end it was a movie. However saying that seems too simple. An exceptional movie that I have watched with others several times now. It has become a topic.

The movie is not about BDSM - it is about a relationship. Both good and bad.

There is a global slave market -although I have never described it that way but for certain there is a global slave market. Maybe a symbol for the entire global slavery. I read about organ transplants from China that the Chinese Government has admitted to as late as two weeks ago. The Chinese even displayed a new fleet of Mobile Execution buses herald a new design on The Mobile Execution (google Chinese Mobile Executions buses and see Sky for videos showing them) that seems to roam the provinces to pick up condemned prisoners and harvest their organs for Westerners over 8,000 a year. Google the open slave markets that the British police decided to only this year. Sex slave auctions at ALL the major airports. From an article in the Guardian Newspaper June 2006 " Women are being sold off in "slave auctions" in the arrivals lounge of British airports, according to authorities desperate to crack down on the burgeoning trade in trafficking humans. The Crown Prosecution Service said foreign women were being sold as sex workers as soon as they arrived, and police have been appealing to men who frequent brothels to contact them in confidence if they believe" .

It shows people can have a healthy alternative lifestyle in the mist of world of greed and exploitation and that maybe we should all find out where we are in the power dynamics and decide just how free we are and how free we want to be. Like in Alan Bates' 'King of Hearts' who is really occupying the village.

In no way did I think it condemned consensual relationships be it a M/s or D/s or any other kind. What is showed was love and bond between two people can be formed in a non conventional way and the world maybe not be as healthy as it seems. It can open some eyes we need more movies that make people think. It is a frightening movie and definitely does not set out to make people feel comfortable in la la land.

Well, you heard it straight from the director's mouth! Hehe. The movie still sucks though.

I'm an ACTUAL member of the BDSM community and I've thought this movie was tripe from the first day I saw the trailer. There's nothing about complex power exhanges or intrapersonal development. It's obvious to me the writing staff, cast, and production staff had done very little research on the topic.

And that's what annoys me the most. If a movie that bases itself even marginally on the BDSM culture and lifestyle is to be made, at least the writers should do their homework.
