An Amazing Review by the San Francisco Chronicle

Here's a glowing review by G. Allen Johnson of the San Francisco Chronicle.

I was lucky to catch this film at the Cinequest Film Fest in San Jose in March. This movie was just non-stop laughs (as funny as any Will Ferrell/Owen Wilson comedy). I was dying through all 90 minutes! Hopefully this film will find distribution and play in theaters. It's just wayyyy too funny not to.

San Francisco Chronicle Review - THE TROUBLE WITH ROMANCE
by G. Allen Johnson

"The Trouble With Romance" (Gene Rhee, USA, 88 min.) An extraordinarily engaging, well-written and creatively filmed romantic comedy comprised of four stories set in hotel rooms on the same floor. In the first story, a beautiful woman attempts to have casual sex, but to her pick-up's consternation, she is thwarted by her "imaginary ex-boyfriend." In the second story, a husband and wife have taken a room to spice up their flailing marriage, but the wife brings a female co-worker for a threesome that turns awkward. In the third segment, a longtime couple breaks up because the man compares her to his favorite NBA team, a symbol of his continuing infantile behavior. And true love is the subject when a prostitute and her john, after transacting business, have a frank discussion about relationships. Rhee’s feature debut is in some ways a textbook for how to make a great low-budget feature: Start with a really good, tightly written script, hire some terrific, trained, hungry actors and shoot it economically on small interiors. For an audience, it's a winning combination. (Fri. 3/16 9 p.m. Van Ness; Mon. 3/19 7 p.m. Opera Plaza)
