Strange spells
Why did Reystlin used some dust to cast Sleep or Veminard the needle to cast Hold person? Is it just for flashy looks or those spells really required material components back then?
shareI don't know what you mean with "back then" but in the dragonlance universe magicians (like Raistlin) use components in order to launch their spells and clerics (like Verminaard) use God/Goddess blessed items and their faith for the same thing.

The Dragonlance universe did indeed follow the basic ideas within the D&D Guides:
- the Sleep spell Raistlin casts is a level 1 requires 'a pinch of sand'
- the Hold Person spell Verminaard casts requires 'a small, straight piece of iron'.
