Was Tika's character supposed to be more important latter?

Michelle Trachetenberg is/was one of the most high profile actors in this. And is credited with 4th Billing because of that. But as is the role seems like a Waste, why not cast your 4th biggest draw as the vilianess or the Elf love interest or something?

Yes, Tika became a larger part of the group in the later books, and eventually married Caramon. They had something like 5 or 6 kids.

As far as the core books go (those written by the original authors), Tika is always a supporting character. She is notable for her relationship with Caramon and their subsequent children but no- she was never along the lines of a Tanis, Laurana or Raistlin. Her biggest role in the original trilogy is to serve as one influence on Caramon (Raistlin being the other.)
