shareWe assume the assistant first carried up Carter's ashes at the direction of Cole. Later after Cole died, his assistant brought Cole's ashes per his wishes to join his friend there. They could have had this pre-planned, but we don't know that. I'm not sure, but I believe the cans they were "buried" in would be cans of the very rare special coffee from the dung of the rare mountain sheep or llamas. I can't remember the brand name.
shareThe ashes were encased in an empty can of "Chuck full o'Nuts" brand coffee. When they were talking about burial vs cremation in front of the Taj Mahal in India, Morgan Freeman's character said he wanted to be cremated and his ashes put into a can and buried in a place with a view, specifically he said that "an old 'Chock full o'Nuts' can would do me just fine."
