Im a bit Puzzled.

The whole film is based on the Nazis not finding out about where the D Day Landings will be.
They are worried the geologist will talk, so they go and get him as they need to make sure they can land?

So why when the geologist is on the plane, do they suddenly revel Plan B?
Ok they were worried about Heindrich finding out the truth, but as they said at least 10 times without the geologist Heindrich would have no proof.

So why on earth risk 2 very high raking SOE people who were both on the wanted list by the Nazis?

I mean thanks to Plan B Pierre died, and Louise was lucky to escape with her life.

And as for her escape, now the Nazis were not fools, she has escaped once already so they send her on her way in one truck with 2 guards!

i dont think so!

Good film, but spoiled by the whole idea of Plan B
And
Why go and get 2 girls from "outside" are you telling me the girls of the SOE would not show a boob or worse for the cause??

Hi Larry, Having seen the cinema version and the DVD I'm also puzzled. You say that Louise "has escaped once already", (and Heindrich says she was captured before). I wonder why such important events are not shown?

I watched this on NETFLIX, and she escapes at the the beginning of the film in the incident in which her husband is killed.

What I find odd is that she says she's not had a menstrual period since before the war ( years?), yet she's pregnant months after her husband died. She did say there was trouble having kids, so perhaps she ALWAYS had intermittant periods - and the timeline since her husband's death was kind of a grey area...

Having just got this on DVD, I think the reason for Plan B is that Heindrich knows about the Mulberries as well. His knowledge of the Allies' interest in beaches AND the arificial harbours that can be built there, means he has to be killed to stop him putting two and two together. When Pierre finally confirms what the Mulberries are, he was going to be taken to Rommel instead as proof.

In real life, I'm not quite sure what the germans did and diddn't know about the Mulberry harbours. I had a quick look in J C Masterman's "The Double Cross System" and he mentions that the german agents in Britain (actually all british double-agents) were useful not just to pass misleading information, but to reveal what the germans did know: "The absence of detailed about the pipelines and about Mulberries indicated that the German knowledge of such things as these was small or nonexistent. The actual denial of information to the enemy was as important as the handing to the enemy of misinformation."

Yes, you are right. I thought the French would have found more suitable women under their command to take this mission. But then again, this is the French we are talking about.

during those days you would use whoever was available and also sometimes whatever made sense at the time may seem very odd nowadays. bottom lines if the french ever behaved bravely. this was then!

To efen : Bushist s**t. The last time I've heard that, it was just before the "oh-so" well done invasion of Iraq.

Clearly the movie was flawless, right popeye?

Also do you mind giving me a link to all this extra information you seem to know about the film? I must have had a different version.

Much appreciated.
